How We Are Different
Standard physical therapy focuses on a specific pain site. Neuromuscular therapy not only focuses on the pain site, but on the surrounding areas or compensating forces that created the pain site or injury. For example, with a car accident or whiplash type of injury, the site of pain is often in the muscles of the back of the neck, however the muscles in the front of the neck are usually injured more severely. Most people do not feel pain in the front of the neck until the muscles are touched. It is more important to treat the correct muscles not just the pain site for total pain relief. Many people have pain in the back of their necks or headaches for many years, after a whiplash or car accident, as a result of not treating the proper muscles.
Neuromuscular therapy is a total body approach.
